UNKNOWN WORDS IN NOVELWORDS
Below listed are words for which I have no definitive meaning. No online dictionary I know of has indexed those words. No website I know of has any information about them. None of my personal dictionaries are helpful.
Of course, some (or all) of the words below might have been coined by the respective author. But, while I continue my searching, my hope is that future visitors here might have relevant information to solve one - or even all of them, over time.
Here are the troublesome words, subsumed under each relevant novel. Under each word is a short extract to help illustrate the context of use:
ULYSSES
rixdix
"...the bonham eyes and fatchuck cheekchops of Jollypoldy the rixdix doldy." (p566)syllabax
"Bloom (Reflecting) Wheatmeal with lycopodium and syllabax." (p630)marfeast
"...maimed sailor, blind stripling, superannuated bailiff's man, marfeast, lickplate, spoilsport..." (p855)tingating
"...and he so quiet and mild with his tingating either..." (p887)istsbeg
"...ere oer the world the mists began I hate that istsbeg comes loves sweet ssooooooong..." (p905)
This page will be updated as each word is eventually cleared up; after which the correction will be applied to the app at the next update.
Of course, as more novels are added to the NovelWords book list, the possibility of encountering further inconvenient words remains. Naturally, I hope the actual probability of that occurring remains at zero.
Finally, if you wish, should you know the meaning of any of the above, please do contact me with the meaning and its source.
Thanks muchly for dropping in....
Roger J. Burke.
